At top of New Year resolution list.. Master bath....updates!

It is the time of year when we all start thinking of resolutions and lists that we want to get started and finish in the new year... on the top of my list for 2013 is to update my Master Bathroom.  We are looking to update our dated tile counter-top, replace our sink, possibly replace our vanity and look for new mirror options.

As I wrote about my desire to remodel I was directed to a great website, Modern Bathroom, and asked if I would mention them in one of my blog posts.  At first I was apprehensive, but after visiting their website I am sold.  No matter what your style or taste, they have it all.
My personal tastes tend to run more toward the traditional styles, and I have found a lot of great options from this site.   I figure if I'm going to go through the time and expense to update my bathroom, I may as well also do the right thing and make it as energy efficient and friendly to the environment as I can.  I was worried that this would greatly limit my options, but this site has a great selection of eco-friendly and energy efficient bathroom fixtures. No need to fight the crowds and be limited to what the stores have on their shelves. I've attached a few of the options that I really liked.  Now I just have to somehow decide which ones I like the best and get started.

We recently heard about some break-ins in our surrounding neighborhoods which got me thinking..... how safe are we? How safe is our House? Break-ins are traumatic not only on physical property but mentally too.  It can take away your sense of security in your own home, that can affect sleep and also stress levels.  I have a lot of friends that use security systems and also really like ADT.... Home security is Very important, especially when you have a family.

Window boxes for some colorful spring flowers

My wife and I love to garden around our home, so I'm always trying to find new ways to showcase some of our favorite plants and flowers. We're gearing up for a whole lot of spring gardening soon and we've really been looking forward to getting our hands dirty again in the garden. But I thought that we would expand our plant showcase to some window boxes. We've been thinking about making some for a few years now and just haven't made the time to make them.

I looked online to see if I could find some directions about how to make some window boxes on my own because we'll want to paint them and customize them to fit the aesthetic of our home. While I was looking for some directions on how to make a window box, we found info on Sears Texas and decided to use them for a few other home projects that we've been wanting to do.

I love this one DIY window box project that I found and I think that's going to be the one that we choose and then we're going to paint the boxes slate gray to pop out from our white siding house.

I think it's totally ridiculous and I'm embarrassed to admit it because I am 32 years old but I really get a lot out of watching a bunch of teenagers and people in their early 20s live their lives and make mistakes I made when I was back in college too. I remember when MTV used to be all about the music but I have to say I like it more now that it's more reality TV than entertainment. I wish I didn't like reality shows are much because they're the kind of trash that make people hate TVs but I also get a lot out of being able to come home and relax in front of the tube. It wasn't so long ago I couldn't ever get a full eight hours of sleep because my job was so stressful but based in TV I'm finally able to wind down before bed.

The other night over dinner my husband and I decided that we wanted to start planning a vacation for early next year. Let me preface this blog post by telling you I LOVE to plan vacations! I love to search out where we are going to go and then finding the perfect place to stay. I like to research the area and find out some neat that that we will want to do while we are there or special attractions to see. My favorite part though is the anticipation. There is nothing like have a summer trip to look forward to when the weather in March is dreary and gray. So we are thinking we want to take a trip down the California coast. We will rent a car and drive down the coast stopping in little towns along the way. My favorite way to find out more about an area like that is to get on my hughesnet and start searching.
