Home project time

Got an update on my home project... I finished the laundry cabinets. 

Really like how they turned out. Now I just need to work in organizing ... Lol. 

For the longest time I have been thinking and wanting to change the look of our cabinets...

 right now they are Oak, (so 80's) but I am not sure exactly what I want and also I know that the cost has to be LOW...

.... so the other day I was shopping at a local antiques shop Big White Goose Barn when I cam across her working with Annie Sloan Chalk paints.
 I told her about my intentions and she gave me a demonstration of how the paint works and what kind of end product I can get!

 I am SOLD.... I am looking for the antique look with an off white or cream color... I cannot wait to get started.. because I am a little skeptical of my abilities I decided to start with my laundry room cabinets....

At top of New Year resolution list.. Master bath....updates!

It is the time of year when we all start thinking of resolutions and lists that we want to get started and finish in the new year... on the top of my list for 2013 is to update my Master Bathroom.  We are looking to update our dated tile counter-top, replace our sink, possibly replace our vanity and look for new mirror options.

As I wrote about my desire to remodel I was directed to a great website, Modern Bathroom, and asked if I would mention them in one of my blog posts.  At first I was apprehensive, but after visiting their website I am sold.  No matter what your style or taste, they have it all.
My personal tastes tend to run more toward the traditional styles, and I have found a lot of great options from this site.   I figure if I'm going to go through the time and expense to update my bathroom, I may as well also do the right thing and make it as energy efficient and friendly to the environment as I can.  I was worried that this would greatly limit my options, but this site has a great selection of eco-friendly and energy efficient bathroom fixtures. No need to fight the crowds and be limited to what the stores have on their shelves. I've attached a few of the options that I really liked.  Now I just have to somehow decide which ones I like the best and get started.

I am really drawn to this model of faucet and I think it will go well with the fixtures that I now have in the shower etc.

kitchen dreaming

Its a new year and I still want a new kitchen look... these pictures got me inspired to try to make a plan and get it working!!!

1. Love the farmhouse sink look...

 2. Love the beadboard, adds so much texture and charm and the glass pull knobs.

 3. Love the idea of the breakfast island being a different color.. reclaimed wood is nice

 4. white cabinets with beadboard inserts... love ....

 5. another option for the island.....love the BLUE too

I have lots of can lights but adding in some pendants would be ideal...

DIY storage bench!

So I have been needing a little bench to put in my laundry room and entry way for a while now.  I have never been able to find the right size! then I saw this Kids bench, on Ana White's website!

I had to do it, and my hubby of course put his little twist onto too!

My talented husband made TWO in just a couple of hours!  Yeah!

I used spray paint to paint them, it is kind of neat because the wood grain still shows through.....

I am not finished yet.... still want to wash it with a dark brown to make it a little darker and then distress it a little!... So far so good!
