Wheeler Tree Farm fieldtrip

Today the kids got to go to a tree farm to see how things work. 

How trees are planted, and grow. 
Trees need 4 things to grow:
1. water
2. dirt
3. sun
4. air
 and the last thing is lots of LOVE!!!

This is Mr. Wheeler talking to the kids about his tree farm and how his dog "mickey" likes all the sticks, so do not pick them up!

Here the kids are running through the filbert orchard trees...............

This is an 80 year old fir tree.... look at all those needles!!

The kids are giving the tree a BIG hug, to help it grow!!

 Here the search for the classroom tree begins....which one is the right one, for size etc?!!



MrWheeler (grandson) cut down the tree for us in three saws...wow he is good!

They even got to team up and carry their tree back to the car! Yeah!

Look here is the whole class and Mrs Weber!!!

Do you know how to tell how old a tree is?  We do NOW too!! :)

We also got to visit the nativity scene in their very own manger..... sheep and donkey and all!!!!
