chickens... are they good in the backyard? for fresh eggs?

More and More there are so many things that one has to try to grow and raise yourself... I love to garden and now I am thinking I would love to try to raise my own chickens for our own fresh eggs.... I just need to see about a coop and how to raise them in the backyard in the city!  I did look and the city does allow chickens up to 5 of them in your backyard.... NICE....

Here is a coop option that I am looking at... do I need a run too? or is this enough room? any input? ideas?
